The interview process was pretty standard - submitted an application, resume and cover letter. I had a screening phone interview, then a F2F interview with the owner. It was a pretty relaxed environment; he tried to be more conversational rather than just asking questions. However, I felt like every time I tried to provide an answer that was more than 5 words, he would interrupt or talk over me. It was extremely frustrating and made me feel as though what I had to say wasn’t important. He also asked personal questions that I felt were inappropriate for the first time meeting someone professionally (relationship status, if I have children, etc). It didn’t come across as a romantic advance - more just like someone who needs some HR coaching on what you can and cannot ask candidates. Since the role I was interviewing for would work closely with the owner, I didn’t feel we’d be a good fit and declined another F2F interview.
