      An Entry Level Position Interview

      23 Mar 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Detroit, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at PromoShop (Detroit, MI)

      Interview

I was contacted shortly after applying online by their Los Angeles corporate office. We spoke briefly regarding my work background and I was told top management and hiring manager would contact me within the next few days. A few days later I was contacted by top management and he too spoke to me briefly regarding my work background and wanted to schedule another call to further discuss the position. During our next phone call he did most of the talking and even questioned how I knew what I knew? He then told me two other people from the office will be in touch. My third phone call with the two other people went well. They asked the typical interview questions: why are you looking for a new job, why did you leave your previous job, what are your goals, accomplishments, etc. I was then contacted via email by top management asking me to come in for an in person interview. I was introduced to the team and had 3 separate interview sessions while I was there. Quite a lot for an entry level position, IMO. I was told they'd be in touch as there are two other candidates. They will discuss and decide which two finalists will move on to another stage of the interview process where you will get to make a presentation to the team trying to sell a product or service. Your presentation will determine whether or not you get the position. They kept in touch with me afterwards stating decisions would be made the following week, but I declined to continue communication with them. I thought they required way too much "activities" for an entry level position. Also, top management demeanor did not seem genuine and he was weird with his questions. It was almost like he had already prejudge or wanted to judge you. You could tell he wanted a follower, not a leader - someone who was comfortable in their own skin who can take all accountability. It was just weird. They also made a comment regarding my age. Isn't that against the law?

      Question 1

I was given a hypothetical-question that he quickly pulled back because he knew it was wrong of him to have even asked.
