      Consultant Interview

      22 Jan 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Propeller (Denver, CO) in Nov 2020

      Interview

Short call with member of talent team; longer video call with member of leadership team; third video call with another member of leadership team; check-in with senior HR leader, where comp was discussed. Last step would have been long call with panel of senior leadership, case study... but I did not make it through the HR check-in gate. I believe it was mismatch on compensation. Every single person I talked with was friendly and professional, and they have a well-thought out and well-communicated process. I would not have been able to join this company at the compensation package they offer for this type of role, but they tried (for a short time) to think creatively about another role for me, which I think shows well about the firm. For a 28yo who doesn't want the grind of the 'big' consulting firms, nor the boredom of a pureplay staff-aug firm, this company is right in the middle and it seems like smart, friendly people who'd be good to work with, if the pay could work for you. (Alas, I was well past 28 when interviewing.)

      Question 1

What's your approach at navigating among competing priorities among customer stakeholders? (or something like that)

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Propeller

      Interview

Either the interviewers are liars, hypocrites, or both. The company is lost and can't offer competitive market rates. I crushed all four interviews and case studies. They tried very hard to find something wrong with my answers, but fell short and floundered. Just like what the other interviewees stated on this site, they will ask if you want feedback and then ghost you.

      Question 1

      1. A company has missed deadlines, and vendors and leadership relationships are fractured. How would you fix it.

      Consultant Interview

      10 Jul 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Propeller (Portland, OR) in Jun 2025

      Interview

Exactly as described on their website. Prompt to send scheduling invites and quick follow up after first 2 rounds. Follow up from 3rd round took about 10 days and they declined to bring me in for a case study. The first 3 interviews seemed to go very well, so I was surprised. The “decline” email invited me to reply if I wanted to ask for specific feedback. Since the decline took me by surprise, I really wanted the feedback, so I replied right away and asked for insights on where I fell short. Still no response a month later. That’s disappointing because they invited the request for feedback, and because it seemed like they tried to foster a culture of feedback to drive continuous improvement. The lack of response leaves me with a less favorable impression of the firm than when I started the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked about how I handle feedback and an example of something I’ve worked on improving based on feedback.

      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Propeller (Portland, OR) in May 2024

      Interview

Interviews were overly structured and largely unpersonal - difficult to connect with anyone on a personal level. The questions were very generic and surprisingly not well aligned to the role applied for. Talking points between interviewers around needs and the role were disconnected and confusing. The work put into the business case turned out to not be a good use of time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How would you close the gap between customer research and the platform decision - ensuring those insights are incorporated into any technology investments?
