I applied online. I interviewed at Publix (Saint Augustine, FL) in Dec 2020
Interview
A week or so after initially applying online, I received a call from the store's Customer Service Manager asking to schedule an interview. I arrived on the agreed date and sat with the Store Manager for around 20 minutes. He sat the papers aside at first and filled me in on who he is as a person and asked me to do the same so that he could know more about me.
The interview portion started off with some basic questions about my résumé and what skills I could transfer to the store. The next few questions were cookie cutter-esque and along the lines of "Where do you see yourself here at Publix?".
After the interview portion, I was offered a position, shown the Publix pay scale chart, and offered a decent wage based on previous experience. That was that. I was scheduled to come back in after the holidays and get to work!
Relaxed one on one interview process. They want to know why want to work at Publix, how you will handle angry customers, and what your weekly shift availbility is. They prioritize candidates who can work busy retail hours, such as weekends, late evenings, and early mornings.
Get asked about yourself, your goals, how you approach providing premiere customer service. They also ask what you availability is like. I thought it would be more nerve racking than it was.
