I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Publix (Birmingham, AL)
Interview
Applied in store, got a call a week later for an interview. Met with the deli manager first, he pretty much just talked about the benefits and asked me what I wanted in my career wether it was with publix or not. He also talked about the opportunity to cross train in another department, for example if I was interested in cake decorating I could watch them decorate cakes in my free time and possibly train with them. Very friendly and informative. Met with the store manager next and he pretty much just discussed the same thing he was very nice as well. I was given a drug test and once it comes back clean I will have training next week. (They mentioned it would be sooner but there's 2 new stores opening less than 30 mins away so they are busy trying to help them open as well). Interview took about an hour total.

publix deli can be difficult for some people, do you believe you will succeed in this department?
Manager wanting to hear about you, your skills and basic knowledge. Showing respect and enthusiasm. Basic, getting to know the company, a friendly environment and the challenges it may come with.
It was a hiring event so about ten people were doing interviews all at once. They had several store managers doing the interviews. I had a district manager interview me.
