      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      14 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Pulley

      Interview

First step is to apply and then they will send you a challenge that involves solving different cryptography problems. This will take you around 1 hour. After completing it the recruiter is made aware of your submission. At this point the recruiter will take a look at your resume if you have completed the API challenge and call you if your resume is a good match. You will talk about the position and then the recruiter will give you a take home assignment that will take you around 4-6 hours to complete. The instructions are non-existent and you kinda have to figure out how the app works. You submit you take home and then an engineer will evaluate it and move you to next step or not. During the live coding interview you are asked to add a feature to your take home assignment. You must be product minded to get passed this interview and ask lots of questions and discuss what each little thing means. I made it to the live coding round and failed because I was not product minded even though I finished the feature. It seems this company wants staff level or entrepreneurs who are excellent at coding and also can play the product manager role.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Pulley

      Interview

Took a while but I feel like owe the world to share this review If there were an award for the worst company to interview at, it would undoubtedly go to this company. The process took months, involving being passed along by 3-4 different recruiters. Each time, it felt like the new recruiter had no clue about the previous discussions—even down to the role title. The take-home assignments were poorly designed and time-consuming. Overall, I can’t find a single positive thing about this company. Even if someone threatened me with a G, I wouldn’t work for them after my experience. My advice: run and don’t waste your time. I had to call it at some point and move on.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They have a whole set of useless questions based on their values that I didn't see a single of them depicted during the interview.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Pulley in Jun 2024

      Interview

If you are even considering joining as a SWE, turn around, walk away. I was fortunate enough to get through the pre-screener and the takehome, which took way longer than they estimated, and had an onsite with upper management. The takeaway here is if you yourself don't function like an entrepreneur or have any history in working for a super young start up then they don't want you. They aren't going to care about your technical accolades. Basically they want staff level experience, put on a senior level title, and at the pay rate of a mid level engineer. There's a reason why they've had their job posting up for months now when its a buyers market.
