      IT Consultant Interview

      23 Aug 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at QA (London, England) in Aug 2015

      Interview

Prescreening process essentially involved them calling you and asking some basic questions. Then I had a skype interview, and passed that too. Very normal, and basic questions. The final stage involved me coming into an office building, in which they occupied the third floor. The location is fantastic, near the Tower of London and the London Bridge. Serious security, kind and highly professional security guards and friendly people. I was warmly welcomed onto the QA Gateway floor of the building, and offered hot beverages and snacks while I waited for the interviewers. Firstly, we had a presentation by a funny and relaxed team leader, with two others from HR heavily involved in the recruitment process. After sitting for an hour and a half, which did get tiring, we sat an aptitude test which all 4 of us passed (12/20 is the passmark; one applicant got 18, two got 15, and the other got 12). It was very confusing, but very manageable. Seeing as there was only 4 of us, there was no group activity stage - but usually there would have been. Instead, they gave us 2 interviews; one by the team leader, and the other by the other two members of HR. The questions were basic, they were respectful and intently listened to what you had to say. HOWEVER! Now the cons - which were enough for me to decline this opportunity. They want you to move to wherever they require you to. You're allowed to reject the first offer, but not allowed to reject any thereafter. If you do want to leave this company (it's a 2 year contract), then you have to pay back the cost of their training: £25k - at a rate of £1k per week. In addition, the training, which does make you a fully qualified IT consultant, is unfortunately unpaid - and can last up to 16 weeks. These cons were too much for me, and required a level of commitment I'm not ready for. To find out more about the training and the people within the programme, read other reviews. But so far, I was happy. Maybe because they wouldn't be rude to you initially as they're trying to hire you! But personally, everything up until the job offer, I couldn't flaw at all.

      Interview

After speaking to the recruiter on the phone, there was then a one to one meeting on MS Teams. Then there was a python great and a brief exam which was done on a video call. Feedback was provided in another call at a later date. After this, there was pre training assessments and learning to be done worth 10+ hours of your time, but teaching you a lot.
