I applied online. I interviewed at QuickBox Fulfillment (San Jose, CA) in Jan 2025
Interview
I do not want to discredit their business operations as I was not onboarded and do not have any direct insight in their performance. Instead, I would like to go over my poor interview experience with Quickbox Fulfillment. Note that the setting is remote.
I can confidently say that this was the worst interview experience I had ever been involved-in after many years interviewing with other companies and playing a role in onboarding processes myself.
The first interview proceeded as normal and fine. However, the first issue came during the second stage as I was tasked in providing a 20 minute presentation of building out a sales process to approach and convert 3 potential clients that would utilize their services.
Though it is normally odd for an applicant to perform an analysis on real-life clientele rather than demos, I had proceeded anyway as I thought, with a good enough impression, I would be hired. I had also confirmed with the recruiter that, if I were onboarded, those potential clients would be under my book of accounts.
The second interview was scheduled immediately as they were looking to meet on Wednesday or Friday despite receiving the email to attend on Monday of that week. However, they were flexible enough to reschedule and give me room to craft my presentation. Despite this, I was rescheduled on 3 different occasions as they were unable to coordinate a proper date and time for all panel interviewers to attend. I understand that it was the tail-end of the year and people are busy with the holidays but having to reschedule 3 different times is a sign of poor efficacy.
When we finally met on the arranged date, out of the 4 interviewers, 1 failed to show and the other arrived late due to a vet issue with their pet (I have a pet myself and sent them my best wishes). The tardy interviewer was unfortunately the decision maker and had also momentarily left the interview due to another call from the vet.
As we reached the end of the interview, they were looking to assign me on yet another interview with the interviewer who failed to show. I shared that I was slightly opposed to this as I was never given a full structure on the entire interview process and felt that the third interview was forced and unnecessary despite the amount of time and effort I had already invested.
I asked, at the very least, what the interview format would be like. As the decision maker was unsure and rambling, mid-sentence, they directly told me that I was not a "good fit" saying that the conversation felt very "rigid" despite their late appearance and not being present for the entire interview. After saying this, they left almost immediately, leaving me and the other 2 interviewers shocked.
I would not recommend applying to this company as it seems like the decision was made on emotional distress and lack of professionalism. This coupled with the usage of free labor through my presentation and poor efficacy in arranging a meeting are all red flags on why you should not apply with this company.
