I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at REI (Cambridge, MA) in Feb 2022
Interview
First round of interviewing via done by HireVue interviewing. You have a few chances to re-record answers to prompts but liminal time to formulate a response. I prefer-- and I think most people prefer-- face-to-face interviews; interviewing with a pre-recorded interviewer is just not natural. This type of interview was not what I expected from the company and really disappointing overall.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What does good customer service mean to you?
What sets REI apart from other retailers?
Give me an example of a time you were given a task with little direction. What did you do and what did you learn?
Group interviews were friendly and well managed. Staff were kind and understanding. Good and thoughtful interview process. I appreciate the relaxed atmosphere at the store and when speaking with the interviewers.
The interview process was simple and over the phone. Then I went in person. She was very nice, but the store manager was a bit off. Ultimately, it just wasn't a good fit.
Submitted resume online then they wanted me to do a really stupid video interview where I answer questions from a prompt and video record myself giving answers. Just schedule a normal interview you idiots.
