I received an invite for a formal interview which had the following:
Managerial round (with reporting manager)
Technical round (with senior writers)
Managerial round (with technical writing peer manager)
Technical round (with design team and product management)
After about 6 hours of the interview where they appreciated and went gung-ho about the work that I have done in my current company and how well I would fit their position, they discussed salary demands in the latter stages (final round).
After that, I have not received a phone call, Email, or not even an informal communication regarding the status of the interview. They also mentioned that they are parallelly interviewing other candidates in an informal telephone call, when I mentioned that I had received a better offer from a better brand.
My question to RSA, if you can't meet salary demands, please ask that in the first phase of interviews itself. It is highly unethical from your side if you can't meet any industry standard salary demands and drag the interview for 5-6 rounds. At least, please have the basic ethics to get back to us if you can't hire. The recruiter (I am not naming him) gave me a confirmation that he would get back to me with an update. It has been 2 months since then, and today I received an automated Email from Dell saying the position has been closed.
I think keeping interviewees in the dark and low-balling is the kind of tactic that RSA recruitment does to reduce the salary demands. If you want the best in the business, be transparent, and have integrity. I had to go through 5 rounds of the interview during the middle of a highly critical release at my current company and RSA recruitment was let know of this as well.
