I went through a HR screening round and a behavioural/technical round with the hiring managers before I was rejected. I had a pleasant time talking with the interviewers and they asked relevant questions, however, was told in the HR round that they had an 'open salary range' for the position and when I gave my range, in the next round I was told that my desired range was too high. I was then told about how I should focus on growth opportunities/future raises instead and was asked what is the minimum amount I would be happy with if I got the offer. Overall, the interview was nice but I didn't appreciate the lack of transparency around salary range and the lowballing tactics used.
