I applied to Railbookers Group in early October and received an email about a week later asking me to complete an assessment, which I did the same day. A week after that, HR contacted me for a screening interview. During the interview, the recruiter emphasized multiple times that I was a great fit and said I would receive an update later that same day. After the interview, I let a full week pass before following up because the silence made no sense given how strongly the recruiter spoke about my fit. Unfortunately, my experience matches what many other commenters have reported. I’ve been a hiring manager and understand competing priorities, but it’s surprising how easily companies overlook that candidates not only want these roles — they may need them financially. Leaving people hanging with no communication only adds unnecessary stress. I eventually received a single follow-up message about a month later saying they expected to have an update by the end of that week. After that: nothing. I followed up twice more and never received a response. At a minimum, send a basic rejection email so candidates can move on, and only signal enthusiasm if you plan to follow through. The lack of communication here felt unprofessional and dismissive of candidates’ time and circumstances.
