The first round of the interview process consisted of a video interview with 3 questions. Candidates were given 1 minute to record each response. The format was asynchronous and focused on communication skills, experience, and motivation for the role.

Application
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Ramp (New York, NY) in Sept 2024
Interview
First I had a call with the recruiter who was very nice and transparent about the process. The same week I had a video interview with the hiring manager, which would have been followed by a case study and final interview. This person was also nice, but in the middle of the interview started asking unrelated questions about my personal life and continued asking those types of questions for almost the remainder of the time we had. I could only ask 2 questions quickly at the end. The next day I got a generic rejection email. I am completely qualified for this role so I'm not sure if trying to get me to have an off-topic conversation was some kind of test, but it was extremely unprofessional and a waste of the time we could have spent actually talking about my qualifications and the role.
