The interview/tour lasted about 2.5 hours. The school then sent an offer the next morning around 9:00 AM and wished for a quick response. I asked them if I could have until the evening to decide on my response (I suggested 7:00 PM and told them that I would respond before that time). The school agreed to that. Then, upon sitting down at 5:00 PM to accept the offer, after spending most of the day calling friends and family in preparation for my new career, I found an email in my inbox (timestamped at 3:27 PM) saying that they had rescinded the offer and were going with another candidate. This type of behavior is hardly professional and is known as an "exploding job offer." It's a slap in the face to candidates and a sign of ultimate disrespect to their time.
