I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Reading Eagle (Reading, PA) in Feb 2016
Interview
Initial phone interview followed by an in-person interview with a tryout story. Editors let you ask staff any question you have during the interview process and created a very open environment. Staff very honest and helpful. Editors also let reporter candidates sit in on budget meeting process, which would typically be done for editor candidates.

Interview
I emailed my resume, and my boss said he'd decided to hire me before he met me, but the interview was a formality. It's definitely a beginning job, but that's not a bad thing. I am able to build my resume. As it doesn't pay all that well (admittedly, it is an easy job) it's good that the hours allow me to have a second job. My current hours are 6.5 a day, four times a week.

Question 1
Experience, interest. Perhaps because I was well-qualified, I was not questioned very hard.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Reading Eagle (Reading, PA) in Jun 2012
Interview
I sent in my resume in the mail and received a phone call no later than a week later about an open part-time position to complete the obituaries for the daily paper. I was asked to come in for an interview no more than three days later, was given a brief tour of the facility and overview of the job, and sat down with two of the cheif editors to discuss my interest in the position. Since the job was part-time, there was really no discussion of a negotiable salary or benefits, which I was expecting. After confirming interest, I was basically given the job and asked to start the next week.

Question 1
There were no difficult or unexpected questions; however, it was not known by my employers until I brought it to their attention during my interview and a closer look at my resume that I had my degree in writing.
