I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Reading Partners in Mar 2013
Interview
The AmeriCorps Member/Site Coordinator interview process is a 3-4 step process. The first step is an online recording system where you verbally record your answers to a set of questions- it can be a little awkward. The second step is a phone interview. The third step is an in-person interview. There will be an optional last step which is where you spend a day at a local reading center.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Reading Partners (New York, NY) in Apr 2019
Interview
Applied online, phone screen with a former AmeriCorps Site Coordinator, project and questionnaire, and in person interview. All welcoming people, passionate about the mission. The process is involved though. The questions are thought provoking, there is role-play, and you have to do a written assignment. They are upfront about the AmeriCorps status and stipend amount at all stages from the posted job description to the offer letter. The offer will be contingent on background check. Be honest with yourself and with them before accepting about whether the arrangement is feasible for you.

Interview
Met with two supervisors, both very nice. One person asked questions and the other one typed my answers on a computer. Followed up by telling me more about the position and Americorps. I also got to ask a bunch of questions.
