I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Red Ventures (Fort Mill, SC) in Jun 2014
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter and asked to complete a writing assignment. I got an interview and met with a recruiter and 5 other people in the digital marketing side of the company. The interview was conversational and took about 3 hours. They hardly asked me any questions and instead tried to get a feel for my personality. We also reviewed my writing assignment.

Question 1
What is a piece of writing or project you have worked on that you are particularly proud of?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Red Ventures (Charlotte, NC) in Dec 2009
Interview
I had heard a lot about this company and knew a few people working there, so I probably had a bit of an advantage going in. I knew that Red Ventures is a company that prides itself on having the best talent in Charlotte and the best employee culture around. Because of this, I was fully expecting a very rigorous interview process -- and that's what I got!
The time from initial email to final offer was about 6 weeks. First, I sent my resume along with writing samples (normal for my job description) to a former coworker I knew within the company. Shortly thereafter I was contacted by HR for a phone interview. This took around 30 minutes. After that came several rounds of in-person interviews. I spent around 2 hours in the office each time, speaking to anywhere from 2 to 4 people per visit. (Very difficult to manage since I was employed elsewhere at the time!) I was also given two take-home writing assignments, which I reviewed in person during my last round of interviews. It was a week or so after my last interview when I got a call with the offer.
Overall, the process gave me a good idea of what to expect from the company, while giving them a good idea of what to expect from me. It was certainly challenging and stressful, but i wouldn't have had it any other way.

Nothing too far-fetched. Apparently us writers miss out on the math pop-quiz questions others get!
