There was a consistent lack of professional follow-through regarding promised timelines during the interview process. After my screening call, I was immediately scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager the following day. During that meeting, the hiring manager seemed unfriendly as she did not seem happy or smile at all during the introduction of the call.
During that same meeting, I was explicitly told I would receive an update on final steps within one week. I also shared my timeline and that I had to make a decision within three weeks based on another opportunity I was being considered for. Despite this, when their own one-week deadline passed with no word, I was forced to reach out myself.
Four days after I reached out, I was given a second timeline and told the team would share updates the following week. For the second time, that week passed in total silence. I had to initiate contact yet again to ask where things stood and was told it would take an additional week for a final decision. I completely lost interest at that point and chose to move forward with the other role.
The fact that they chose to delay their own communication timeline repeatedly and ignored my own speaks poorly for them as it shows a significant lack of organization and professionalism. What was most disappointing and frustrating was that despite over three weeks of delays and the multiple missed deadlines, the final communication contained no apology or acknowledgement of the issue. Having to repeatedly chase an organization for updates that were promised to be delivered weeks prior shows a clear lack of respect for a candidate's time. I hope their team improves their communication standards, will work on being more professional, and take more accountability when they fail to repeatedly meet their own stated timelines.
