I was referred by a current employee to apply for an opening position. I contacted the individual overseeing sales for the region to inquire about the position, since it had not yet been posted. We had an initial phone screening that ended very well. She recommended I submit my application once the position was posted. That process took nearly 3 weeks.
I submitted my resume and received an email to complete an online interview a week later. The online interview was a different set up, which included 3 pre-recorded questions/situations that I then had to record myself responding to within 2 minutes.
Roughly a week later I received a call from the initial person I spoke with to see how the process was going and that I would be hearing from HR. It turns out he had already emailed me with the wrong location in his subject line, so I thought it was spam. I spoke with HR for less than 5 minutes, in which he stated an in-person interview would be set up at some point.
Another week passes by and I receive a call from the initial person overseeing sales for the region. She states that she is looking to set up an interview the following Wednesday at 9am. I ask to push it back to 10am since I have to drive an hour and a half from a different city. She says that should be fine, but she needed to confirm with the individual flying in from Atlanta on the day, time, and location. We ended our call with her stating a confirmation email would be sent to me by either her or HR.
The same pattern of waiting a week and not hearing anything continued to the tentative interview day of Wednesday and no word from anyone. I received no confirmation of the specific day, time, and location for this interview. I called the individual overseeing sales for the region that Wednesday and she realized no confirmation email was sent, but asked if I was still on my way to a location unbeknownst to myself that is an hour and a half away for a time that was never confirmed. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it in time but it was agreed that we would re-schedule the interview.
I followed up with the individual overseeing sales for the region and HR , to which I received no response. Again, following the week long pattern, I waited another week to follow up with the individual overseeing sales for the region. Roughly 30 minutes later, instead of receiving a response from the individual overseeing sales for the region, I received an email from HR stating he had a call with the individual overseeing sales for the region that day and would follow up. I received no follow up, so I followed up. I then received the "I'm afraid we will not be moving forward with you as a candidate" email.
I was looking forward to the interview, however it's unfortunate that someone dropping the ball leads to me losing out on this opportunity. Overall, a really bad experience that paints a negative image for RentPath as a whole.
