I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Richard Bernstein Advisors (New York, NY) in Mar 2025
Interview
The communication with RBA was great. They responded quickly and got back to me fast after I submitted my application and during the process. The company seemed organized, and I was contacted by someone already in the role. The first interview was on Zoom and lasted about an hour. The questions were pretty standard, and I was asked maybe one or two questions about investing. The next interview was in person, and they said it would take 1 to 1.5 hours, but it ended up going much longer. I’d prefer to go in person only if it's for the final round, especially if I’m taking time off from my current job to attend. A red flag during the interview process was when one of the interviewers asked me about my thoughts on work-life balance. It felt like they were implying there really isn't much balance. Everyone comes in 4 days a week, and they mentioned that Fridays are optional, but it's corporate America, so it’s not really "optional." It gave me the impression that people are expected to be in the office 5 days a week, with early starts and ending around 6 p.m. I understand the goal is to improve people's financial lives, but we’re not curing cancer. They didn’t ask many "Tell Me About A Time" questions, which was nice because I don’t think those really reveal how well someone can do the job. Overall, the company seems well-organized, and I have a lot of respect for Richard Bernstein and his company. The people I interviewed with were very nice, but for an entry-level role, I thought working 4-5 days a week was excessive, especially since this kind of role could be done remotely.
