I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at River Island (Sheffield, England) in Sept 2018
Interview
I got an email asking to go to a recruitment event (interview). There were about 15 of us when I got there and I felt like this was far too many to interview everyone properly. We then did tasks that felt like something from a freshers event I.e things to take to a desert island/two truths one lie. Then we had to pick out an outfit as a group, this was alright and I expected it. The interview ended with any questions we had and that was it. We weren't told much about the job and there were no one on one interviews. I don't feel like it gave us much chance to show ourselves at our full potential, it felt like those who were the loudest/had the best "banter" with the interviewer were the most liked. The process lasted about an hour and a quarter but would have been only an hour if we'd been interviewed at the actual time we were told on the email.
I applied online. I interviewed at River Island (Birmingham, England) in Mar 2026
Interview
Group interview of around 15. First task was saying your name a bit about you out loud, just general information it seems like name age what you do. Then the second task was writing down good customer service and bad customer service in your little group and reading it out to the group. During this, they are checking to see what you say, but try not to talk over anyone but definitely stand out. The second task was getting clothes from the shop floor presenting your outfit and explaining your choice. I don’t believe they cared too much about your previous experience but rather your personality.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Introduce yourself
2. What’s is good/bad customer service
3. Go to the shop floor and pick out an outfit and present your choice
Fine, questions not always relevant but seems like a personality test I suppose. Nice enough interview in general. Quite quick interview, didn’t end up getting the job though , oh well

Interviewer was very nice and created a relaxed atmosphere. Questions weren't vague and helpful to help me along with the answers. Staff seemed friendly and i look forward to my position here.
