I applied to a position that had similarities to parts of my work experience while acknowledging I wouldn’t have in-depth knowledge/experience of every aspect the position would entail. A recruiter contacted me, we had a great phone discussion about the position/company/my background, and she set up a video interview with the hiring manager at the end of our call. The video interview was dry and scripted and the interviewer insinuated throughout that I didn’t have the type of experience they were looking for. After the first 15 minutes I couldn’t really tell why they had even asked me to have the second discussion with them. I just thought of it as a practice interview in the end. Wish them well but they need to sort some things out.
