A company contacted me multiple times about an employer highly interested in interviewing me. An in-person interview was scheduled for today, but they refused to disclose the company name or location until I completed their application. The application required my Social Security number, which raised concerns for me. I emailed them to ask why they needed this information before an interview, but they only responded by insisting I complete the application to receive the interview details, without directly addressing my question. During the pre-screening call, they had also asked for my date of birth, which I felt could lead to potential discrimination. I’m uncomfortable with staffing agencies retaining sensitive personal information, especially given how often candidates are ghosted. Ultimately, they cancelled my interview, claiming it was because I was 'unavailable.
