I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Royal Mail in Jan 2018
Interview
Submit your CV. Then if successful you need to complete an online Maths, and English test. Each answer in these tests has to be answered within a time limit, which makes it quite challenging.
The interview consisted of a presentation with Q&A (which turned out to be a role play based on a presentation) and then competency based interview questions. The interviewers were only interested in asking the 4 competency questions. They did not ask any other questions such as “why do you want to work here?” “What transferable skills do you have?” “Tell me about yourself” etc. They did not even ask if I had any questions. The interviewer explained at the beginning of the interview that he would only ask the competency questions as time was a concern and he “had his day job to do as well.” not very professional. He also mentioned 3 times the internal candidate who was currently covering the role. I felt that it was unnecessary to mention this to me. Could it be that the internal candidate was already going to get the role....

Interview
Competency questions and role play based on a business scenarios. Questions were around working under pressure, as a team/individual, difficult conversations/decisions I’ve made. A lot I needed evidence for things I’d done in the last 12 months.
