The first interview was a virtual Teams meeting with two team members. We briefly discussed my background, though there wasn’t much detail shared about the role itself as there were technical issues.
Before the second, in-person interview, I was asked to provide my salary expectations and three professional references. I later found out that my references were sent a detailed questionnaire with 13 questions, which felt a bit excessive for a position at this level. At no point was I given information about the salary range or budget for the role.
The second interview was in-person, but it was essentially just me asking them questions. There were no follow-ups from them about any of my qualifications or experience. It felt like the main purpose of the in-person interview was to see me in person and gauge whether I’d fit in with the team, rather than to go much deeper into the role, next steps, or the future of this position.
