Question 1
Not really anything tough or unexpected. Pretty straight forward.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Safeway (Seattle, WA) in Nov 2012
Interview
It's been a while since I was interviewed, but if I recall correctly the interview process was mostly to assess my communication abilities, if I had dealt with difficult customers in the past, how I had risen to the occasion to help a customer who was upset or experiencing some level of challenge.
The interviewer checked with me to make sure I would be capable of memorizing produce codes, and how I was at cash handling, if I'd had experience working a register before.
They also end it by making sure that you are willing to join the union, because as a union store, if you do not you will be terminated at the end of your 90 day trial period.
Then, if you have been selected as a possible hire, they will give you a drug test which you must pass in order to be hired.
It was all very straight forward and simple.
