Had to do an extremely tedious take home assignment even before applying for the job. They removed the job post a week later did not even bother following up with a rejection email.

I enjoyed the entire process with Saleswhale. From the first call with Sam, all the way through the discovery call with Gabriel. From the very beginning, Sam was very upfront and knowledgeable about the product and market. Speaking with Gabriel, only made the process even more enjoyable as he is a CEO with a vision, and extremely transparent.

I was sourced by a headhunter. Then very quickly connected to the CTO and R&D lead which is a Senior Software Engineer. Was given a take home coding assignment which was a Data Science assignment, not really a fair judgement of my skill as an engineer but still I was able to do it as I have data science experience and was eager to show I was able to learn fast. Once the technical assignment submission made the cut, I proceeded to a half-day battery of interviews in office. First meeting the Senior Software Engineer who is the manager for this role, then 2 Backend Engineer leads (one Backend Engineer Lead, one Engineering Manager). The round with the backend engineer leads involved answering system design questions on a whiteboard. After that I had lunch with one of the co-founders and the UI Lead and someone from the Customer Success team. After lunch I met the CEO for a quick 10 min chat. Finally the day ended about 3pm with a final recap and next steps discussion with the CTO.

- How would you reach out to a VP of Marketing at "Popular Tech Company" to land a demo?

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Saleswhale (Singapore) in Apr 2019
It was an intense experience. It began with an hour video call with the VP, Ops covering my professional experiences and what is required of the role. Standard but the interviewer was a little of all the place with the flow of topics. The next step was an online homework covering advanced excel formulas, explanation of a marketing concept, mock email to customers. The assignment was given on a working day and to be submitted the same day because I was asked to attend an on-site to meet the CEO and lunch with some of the team members. The planned schedule did not actualise, ended up meeting the same VP, Ops for 2hrs going through the answers for the assignment and running supposedly mock scenarios on how to improve office and what tools to use etc after an office walkabout. The session ended very uncomfortably because it felt like a 'fishing expedition' for my ideas and solutions and less so a genuine interview to hire me. Post session feedback felt more like nitpicking and excuses to dismiss me. Of course, there was no response on any next steps or decision after the interview, despite promise to do so. The whole process was disappointing considering I was initially very excited of joining a homegrown YC company. IMO, any company, big or small, will benefit from a little interview training and respect for candidates who spent time and effort to prepare with a short notice.

First you have 1:1 interview with their CTO and developers. They check your background and experiences. Will give you an algorithm question to solve on sight. After this interview they will give you a take home assignment to complete. They mainly check the creativity and skills. After this stage you have to go their office and present your solution to them. They ask question about your solution.
- Describe your most favourite project you have done.
