      Ice Cream Scooper Interview

      30 Dec 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Studio City, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Salt & Straw (Studio City, CA) in Dec 2017

      Interview

I applied online (this includes the application, and a personality screen they email you afterwards) and received an email about 10 days later asking what times I am available for a phone screen. I emailed with three times, and received a response that I was scheduled for a phone interview that was not during any of my given availability. They are quickly responsive and flexible, however. I was told the phone interview would take about 15 minutes, I was on the phone for about 5. They asked three questions, and then scheduled me for a group interview at the store. The group interview was extremely casual, just one other interviewee plus the shop manager. We sat on a picnic table outside and chatted, she then stated that she originally was going to hire one person but now wanted to hire both of us. I received a call the next day from the hiring coordinator to confirm the offer, and was scheduled to begin orientation a couple of days later.

      Ice Cream Scooper Interview

      7 Jun 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at Salt & Straw

      Interview

WAS GHOSTED AFTER THE INTERVIEW. LOCATION: NYC Received an interview invitation from a manager for an ice cream scooper role in NYC, on the day of the interview said manager wasn't even present. I was told to wait outside in the NYC heat, and then maybe 15 minutes later, I would be speaking to a random manager adjacent employee who expressed to me that she had never done an interview before conducting said "interview". After the interview, I sent the manager a text letting him know that I am still interested in the position and what the next steps would be. A little over a week goes by and my message was never responded to or even acknowledged. What a true lack of professionalism. If someone applies for a job and doesn't hear back, fine. But to go to an interview to meet with someone who doesn't even show up, then ends up ghosting the candidate without ever meeting them is truly pathetic. I wouldn't want to work for someone who treats candidates in such a horrible way, I can only imagine how the actual employees are being treated.

      Interview

It was over text with a recruiter and the ability to not begin the next day was the reason I was declined. Probably short staffed and needed people quickly but alas

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Salt & Straw (New York, NY) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Friendly energy with majority of questions asked about situations we were in and how we dealt with them. Didn’t feel too intimidating but definitely was an interview on personality rather than experience.
