I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Samsara (San Francisco, CA) in Sept 2016
Interview
Step 1- Happy Hour. Met team of AEs, Product Managers, Sales Directors, CEO, SDR, the whole gang in a casual yet professional environment. Gave great insight into multiple people and the culture they've cultivated, instead of a stiff, forced, interview.
Step 2- On-site. Was originally asked to come in the next day, but I had to push it out a week. I appreciated how quickly they move.
Step 3- Had an offer by the end of the day
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
-Walk me through your sales process
-Give me examples of a few of your big wins
-Why do you want to work here
-Why are you looking to leave current role
- Demo of their product---this was hard but I think they value discovery and qualifying more than product knowledge.
I first spoke with a recruiter for the screening process, which took about 25 minutes. She was late, but was very nice and provided tips on what they're looking for. She sent a lot of follow up information to prep for the next interview round. I then met with the hiring manager who did a deeper dive into numbers and expectations.
5 rounds in total, 1 with HR, 1 with a Sales Manager, then 3 in 1 day: Manager, Director and another Director. Very low acceptance rate. Must demonstrate growth mindset, specific deal metrics, and a natural drive.
