      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Sargent & Lundy (Chicago Ridge, IL) in May 2022

      Interview

I applied in February and I did not hear anything until the end of March. I received an email scheduling me for a pre-screening interview for 30 minutes. After a week of the pre-screening interview I received another email to schedule a 2-3 hours interview. Interview was with HR and 3 engineers and a project manager. I didn’t feel the time in the interview, interviewers were nice and discussed my background and asked questions that are related to the position. Questions were easy and I was interested talking to them about energy technologies and power systems. Just do your homework and read about the company and make sure you love the position that you are applying for!

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself and your background?
      Answer question

      Question 2

Tell me a situation were you had to work with a team
      Answer question

      Question 3

What is the best energy technology you like the most?
      Answer question
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sargent & Lundy (Elkridge, MD) in Jul 2024

      Interview

The interview was one 2 hour interview, split between 4 interviewers. It felt like 4 casual conversations to determine if the job and candidate were a good fit for each other. The first was with HR and was largely about how the interview would go, two were with engineers about the work that would be done, and one was with a high-level employee who oversees branches in the area encompassing this position. There were a few technical questions with one of the engineers, but they were very simple (any student who took any power course should be able to answer them). Most of the questions were about experiences. Much of the time was spent by the interviewers describing the position in detail, helping the candidate ensure the position meets their wants/requirements.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

Are you familiar with the difference between phase and line voltage?
      Answer question

      Question 2

What is the relationship between three-phase power, current, and voltage? (asked with an example involving a transformer)
      Answer question

      Question 3

What was the hardest challenge you overcame in that position/experience?
      Answer question

      Electrical Engineer Entry Level Interview

      3 Apr 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Richland, WA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sargent & Lundy (Richland, WA) in Mar 2023

      Interview

The interview process was 2 hours long virtually with 4 separate individuals; HR, manager of the team, the lead design expert underneath the manager, and the VP of the location I applied to. Each individual had 30 minutes; it was a very personal, down to earth conversation. They explained the culture at Sargent & Lundy and what they are responsible for work wise. They really wanted to make sure that the candidate they are potentially hiring would be a good fit for not only the company but the team as well.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Most of the questions I was asked were more of my past experiences from my previous jobs. Have I ever been in a situation where this occurred and how did you deal with it?
      1 Answer

      Question 2

Other questions pertained to why I chose electrical engineering with a power focus track?
