I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sears (Syracuse, NY) in Aug 2011
Interview
I applied online to Sears one afternoon and later that night I received a call for an interview. I scheduled an interview for 2 days later. I went in and met with the head cashier. She interviewed me and said I was a good fit and she went to get the manager to give me a second interview. The manager came in and told me that because I couldn't work over breaks (because I'm a college student and I go home over breaks) that he couldn't hire me. So yeah...This is after I was called in for an interview for the same position in my hometown and the interviewer didn't notice that I put seasonal on my application, until about five minutes into the interview, so I wasted my time. I guess they don't want seasonal workers, although there is that option on the job application and it doesn't say anything about not wanting seasonal workers on their website.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Name a time you had to go above and beyond someone's expectations?
Took like 20 mins. Very easy but questions seemed random. It also seemed like management had no idea they had interviews scheduled cuz there were several of us waiting for a long time
The interview process can vary depending on the company and position, but here’s a general idea of what to expect:
1. Application Review: After applying, they’ll review your resume. If they’re interested, you’ll get a call or email to set up an interview.
2. Phone/Video Interview: A lot of places do an initial screening over the phone or via video call. They’ll ask about your background, why you're interested in the job, and how your skills fit the role. It’s usually a casual chat, but make sure to prepare by knowing the company and job description.
3. In-Person Interview: If you pass the initial screening
Fill application form to apply and wait few days before submitting it to the company. Had to provide personal documents and references from previous employers. Initially was interviewed on a phone.
