It took a week for them to get to me regarding a phone interview. I responded promptly to their email but didn't receive a response for several days. When they finally replied, it was at the end of the day, requesting a 9am phone interview the next morning. This was a flag to me - they would put things off then try to cram to make up for the lost time.
The phone interview was unstructured. The hiring manager (not HR) explained the position to me but didn't ask questions so I took the lead and explained my background. She didn't seem to be listening - she later asked a question about my background that I had already covered. Overall, the interview was painless. The hiring manager was polite and said she would email about when next steps would be. I should have asked her for her timeline because she didn't respond for weeks. I waited a few days after the phone interview and then I sent a follow up email. I waited another week and sent another follow up. No response, not even to say they were still interviewing candidates. I waited one more week then sent another follow up, this time giving a deadline. The hiring manager responded a few days later to inform me that I wasn't what they were looking for, giving me reasons that they could have already seen on my resume without having to talk to me, and didn't even ask about on the phone interview.
Sephora doesn't seem to have a proper interview process (the hiring manager was inexperienced at interviewing), nor a respect for their job candidates. Red flags to watch for.
