I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at ServiceNow (Kirkland, WA) in Feb 2021
Interview
Spoke with hiring manager. Later I got a python assessment to refine code. After that I got a request to schedule virtual onsite interview which consists of 3 rounds. First is behavioral, culture fit along with devops fundamentals, In the second round I was tested on linux fundamental including kernel related, os related and on chef. Coding skills are tested in the last round.
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at ServiceNow (San Diego, CA) in Mar 2024
Interview
I interviewed for the FedRAMP team. Overall the team here in the US is pretty good and the folks are very friendly.
I had a terrible experience with a person from Australia who interviewed me. The person just did not want me to succeed. He started asking me series of questions like from a question bank and when answered, the expectation was exactly the answer he wants leaving no room for discussion or nuance. If you ask, what is the linux process with pid 0, there's 1 answer but for the question "how would you improve a code?", there can be multiple approaches. The interviewer just did not want to listen, interrupts frequently and says things such as design pattern I am looking for is "factory pattern".
One time while explaining about scaling a system, he again abruptly interrupts and asks do you even know what is CAP theorem? Ofcourse, I knew coming from plenty of engineering experience and I was trying to explain tradeoffs of my solution. Overall, this interviewer lacked the technical chops since he did not come from a CS background and left a bad taste and within 20 minutes, I did not want to continue considering I might be working in some capacity with such a person.

Interview
First phone call, then half an hour interview on Zoom, and the next day the refusal email came. When asked to give any feedback, silence... I have been working as DevOps for more than 5 years.
