Interviewed for their London office! The company is quite new but I still expected some introduction of the company and their expectations when someone steps into this role. The recruiter didn’t seem to have much experience nor knowledge about the role or organisations growth plans in the UK. The EA supposed to be the first hire for the London office but no transparency about the future hiring plans or employee benefits. The recruiter should really be able to engages with candidate, explain the company, and have some idea about the compensation and benefits before interviewing candidates. Whilst it might be the first hire - the organisation should really have some idea about the basic mandatory benefits.
The recruiter was also facing me sideways when we were on the call which somehow felt really unprofessional as I didn’t get a feeling that the recruiter cared enough to show the interest (if it’s the 2 screen thing the simply say it). They really need to train people on the basic interviewing skills and acceptable standard of candidate experience - they want to build a great employer brand. I’m not sure how they screen their people if they can decent explain the role and so on. I really hope that unconscious bias doesn’t play a role in the process.
