I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SharpSpring (Gainesville, FL) in Sept 2017
Interview
The interview process began with a phone conversation with the talent manager. Her email had said she wanted to discuss times I could come into the office, and we also discussed a few typical interview-type questions via that first phone call.
When I came to the office, I first met with the talent manager for a tour. Then I interviewed in a small room with the hiring manager and his superior. They had only a few questions but let me do most of the speaking. They did not probe for details or ask situational questions, nor much that was very challenging to answer. It was a very casual experience that allowed for back and forth to get to know what each would need from the other if working together. The actual person I would report to did not have any questions for me, and I believe he was new to his role - good call to have his superior direct the interview. However, he was the one who next called my references, and some of the questions I heard about after led me to believe he may have been intimidated a bit by my experience or age. I would have welcomed the chance to work with him - I believe we all have a lot to learn from each other, regardless of what stage of the journey we are in. However, I also respect that when hiring, we have to consider as a manager how well we think we will work with the interviewee, and I'm afraid I could have done a better job putting him at ease in that regard.
After the interview I was asked to provide references and then complete a simple 2-part writing assignment.
All in all, I believe it is a quality organization and I was impressed at how well they project their culture. I wish them all the best as they mature and strengthen their workforce, and I would welcome the chance to interview for another position in the future.
