I applied online and was reached out by the company for an interview. I asked them if it would be phone or virtual and they said they needed an in person interview the next morning. I advised I couldn't do that because I worked 25 miles from my house and would need a couple weeks to ask for time off from my job to attend the interview. I let them know if they needed someone to interview right away I will withdraw my application. They agreed to the phone interview. They wanted me to call the interviewer the next day. I called and no answer and left a vm. They called back and I was driving home. They wanted me to call when I got home but I let them know it would take me an hour to get home as I work far from my job. I stated this the day before as well. They asked me what job I applied for and to explain my experience as they clearly didn't read my resume. I let them know my background and my career goals. They said I didn't have much experience and didn't let me ask any questions about the job or explain the company or the job role. I can tell they already had unconscious bias about me due to calling while driving home and living far from my current job. They said they would let me know in 2 days . They called back 2 mins later asking if I wanted a different job. I declined.
I was disappointed because it seems they wanted me to adapt to them rather than them adapting to me. Why would you offer me another job after I just told you my career goals. It seems they want someone who can start right away and that's not someone who's currently employed. It was just a waste of time. They put 3 lines in the job description they said they wanted someone with 3-5 years experience not 2. Well if you put that in the job description I would not have applied.
