      Designer Interview

      25 Nov 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Detroit, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shinola (Detroit, MI) in Oct 2025

      Interview

Pros: The team seemed friendly , and the early interview rounds were positive and engaging. Communication was clear during interviews. Cons: The initial communication was weird and they had been ignoring me until my positive experience meeting with the design lead. Mid-process they asked me some basic questions that were already discussed during the first screening. The interview process lasted over five weeks and included multiple rounds, along with a request for additional work on a two-day weekend deadline. It felt like they already have a candidate in mind yet still didn't give me a clear response. After submitting the requested materials, the communication abruptly stopped. Despite two polite follow-up calls and an email, I never received any response or closure. The lack of follow-through felt unprofessional considering the time commitment required. Advice to Management: If candidates invest several weeks and submit work assignments, please offer a timely update or closure. Even a brief rejection email shows respect for the applicant’s time.
