Overall the interviews themselves were fine and as expected but the communication process between interview steps was frustrating. I didn't get a confirmation email that my application was received and then weeks later got an automated email to schedule an interview out of the blue. Then as I moved my way through 5 rounds of interviews, some of the emails about scheduling had a different job title than the role I applied for or mentioned a person that was different than who I was told I would be meeting. Luckily I rolled with the punches and made it through all rounds and frustratingly didn't find out I didn't get the role until following up after 2 weeks of silence.
Recommend Shopify relook at the communication process during the hiring process and clean it up.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify
Interview
Applied online. Step 1 was a pre-screening call with a recruiter. This was followed by 3 one-on-ones with different team members/members who would interact with this role of different levels of seniority. Received news via e-mail.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself, why do you want to work at Shopify, questions about experience
Overall very well done interview process with behavioral round, life story round, and then case studies with the team.
One down side was it was a slow moving process, with at least 2 weeks between each round - taking months to get to speak to members of the team.

Question 1
Tell me about your life and why you made the decisions you made.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Shopify in Jan 2024
Interview
Process took 3 months from first interview to final interview. They have an unpaid case study and don’t respect a candidates time. Seems like they look for ‘free’ ideas throughout the process. Lost a lot of respect for this company.
