I was recently contacted by phone from a service representative working for Simply Biotech regarding a position at a biotech firm located in San Diego, Ca. While talking to the representative I wanted to find out what the position was and what it might entail. In the course of our conversation the S.R. did not give me a job description but wanted to know what my salary requirements were and if I would be amendable to a temp to hire position. I told the Service Rep. I was okay with it but I would have to learn more about the position before making a decision. We went back and forth for a few minutes and then I was asked if I was really interested in moving forward. I told the S.R. I was on the fence and again, tried to find out more about this job. I was informed that since I was not one hundred percent certain that I was wasting our time. That’s when the call ended. My encounter with Simply Biotech typifies my experiences with temp. agencies. Many of the jobs offered either don’t match my interests or skill sets, pay well below average, or are jobs with a high attrition rate and/or jobs people really don’t want. It appears their only concerned is with filling a slot and less with determining if the job would be a good fit. My advice to you would be unless you are really hard-up for money, to avoid temp. agencies like Simply Biotech altogether. These guys are simply not worth it. Addendum: I was contacted through e-mail by Simply Biotech for a Senior Manufacturing Associate position for which I was not in any way qualified to do. The phone interview was for a different position.
