I applied online. The process was the most dis-jointed 5-6 months I’ve ever experienced as a candidate. I had an initial phone screening with a recruiter and a week later a telephone interview with the hiring manager. Upon first sight, all was good and well and it seemed like we were a good fit for each other. I was informed that they would be in touch by the end of the week to arrange an in-person interview. I didn’t hear anything for over 2 weeks, at the end of which I received an email from them checking that I was still interested and when I was able to come into the London office. The interview was scheduled to be in another 2 weeks time. We are now at the end of the 2nd month of this particular process. The interview went well and the 2 gentleman I met (including line manager to be) were great, easy to talk too and made it feel friendly. It went severely downhill from this point onwards. I didn’t hear anything from them for 4-6 weeks, I did send an email or two to check-in but everything was ignored. At this point I had given up on the process. This was 3-4 months into a process for a position that was supposedly important to the firm and something that they wanted to fill quickly. I did finally hear back from them and they invited me back, again only if I was still interested. So, after 5 months the final interview was with a further two people – both of whom again appeared friendly on the outside. I did ask them why they enjoyed working for the company and got the usual spiel about it’s a “Best Company to work for”, everyone’s friendly and there is no hierarchy. It’s important to note neither person had any knowledge of what we were discussing in terms of my experience and ability to do the role. However, after receiving feedback from them it is clear that this is a company that has no clear direction on where they are going or what they want to be. The products have stagnated and have probably not been updated since the companies inception. People in directorship positions have let that go to their head, so if you are a talented individual do not go here. Having had a look around the office I can confirm it is small and cramped with people covering every available space, meeting rooms appear scarce, on both interviews I had to wait a minimum of 15 minutes before we could get into one. Just look at the “Copywriter” interview on Glassdoor as well, it’s clearly a pattern and they were going through it at the same time as myself. Another item to note is that they’ve been completely bought out by Travellers. Whilst to the market they claim to be continuing with business as usual, there are already initial signs of that not being the case. Just make sure you turn up having looked at all the facts.
