Long and Over-Complicated Process – Strong TA Support, but Poor candidate Experience.
The process took about 7 weeks and involved 5 separate stages, which felt excessive for this level of role. While the TA was excellent - always responsive, clear, and supportive — the overall process lacked structure and left a poor impression.
A major delay occurred when the management team travelled to an event in the US, and I was left waiting without progress. For a company hiring into a leadership role, this felt like poor planning and disrespectful of candidates’ time.
Throughout the process, I received positive feedback at every stage, which made the final rejection all the more confusing. The reasons given were vague and came down to “fit” rather than capability. Feedback mentioned portfolio breadth and flexibility, which could have been assessed much earlier: certainly by the second interview. Instead, it felt like the company only raised these issues once I had already completed all five stages, including a 45-minute presentation panel.
A mixed experience. Simpro’s TA team does a great job, but the recruitment process itself felt over-engineered and mismanaged. My advice: streamline to 3 stages, align on candidate criteria earlier, and respect candidates’ time better.
