Interview
Initially reached out by recruiter to set up a 30 minute phone screen with two engineers, then reached out two weeks later for a whiteboarding interview. Very straightforward and communicative
Felt like they were there to help you during the interview. Gave you difficult questions and hints to try to gauge how well you knew your stuff. I was expecting a problem similar to leetcode for technical interview, but was given one that included string manipulation and file reading.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Technical Screen - What is polymorphism? Encapsulation? - What is the difference between an abstract class and an interface? - How would you write an SQL query to retrieve all entries with a name that begins with an “a”? - What are the different ways of manipulating data in SQL? Technical Interview - Given a txt file with a list of phone numbers, remove the duplicates. The phone numbers are in varying formats. Write pseudocode. Behavioral Interview - Tell me about yourself. - Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with a team member or coworker. How did you resolve it? - Tell me about a time when you were given a task and did not get enough instructions on how to do it.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Slalom Build (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2023
Interview
Interview process started with an initial technical screen through Microsoft Teams, where the interview asked questions to get a gauge of your technical knowledge. I managed to pass this round and moved onto the Technical and Behavioral Interview round that took place a month later, also through Microsoft Teams. The whole process went smoothly and the interviewers were very supportive throughout the whole process. Ultimately, did not end up with an offer, but very good interview experience.
