The first step in the interview process is a 2-hour technical test that tests your abilities with basic Java development, troubleshooting/debugging, and client communication. The first part of the test asks you to write a file parser for a fixed-width text file by extending an abstract base class. The second part of the test starts with a fully implemented parser that contains bugs and asks you to find the bugs (there's two of them). After you've found the bugs, you're asked to write an email to the fictitious customer explaining on a non-technical level what the problem was. This is to test your ability at business communication.
