I applied for a QA Engineer position at Snapsheet in late 2019.
I went through 3 formal interviews (two phone screens and an in-person interview with members of the technical team). Everything in the process went along smoothly until the 11th hour. The R and D team itself was very technically knowledgeable and friendly. After some back and forth, and numerous follow-ups, I received an offer to join the team. We settled on a salary I was happy with, and I accepted the offer. Shortly after this, I declined a competing offer and put in my 2 weeks notice at my current job, and let Snapsheet know.
A few days after accepting, I got an urgent voicemail from Snapsheet about my offer. At worst, I thought they might be calling to say they had to lower the agreed-upon salary offer. Instead, when I called back, they told me that they were rescinding my offer due to “updated budget constraints.”
I was in shock. After over a month of interviewing for the position, all of a sudden these budget changes surfaced? The rug was pulled out from under me. Needless to say, I was furious. I had to spend the next few days talking to my current employers and doing damage control with my current company to stay employed. I also had to reach out to another company I had received an offer at (and I had declined to accept Snapsheet’s) to see if they would reconsider and re-open conversations about the open position.
How Snapsheet badly failed in this whole process was appallingly unprofessional.
Having gone through this, my advice is to stay far away from this company. I am grateful that I dodged this bullet.
