"Deeply Disappointed with the Interview Experience at Sonar"
This was one of the most disheartening interview experiences I’ve ever had.
After clearing the initial coding round, I had a conversation with the recruiter and completed the Gorilla Logic assessment as well. I was then invited for a one-hour technical interview with two engineers from the team. Unfortunately, this final step left me extremely disappointed.
One of the interviewers showed zero interest throughout the call — no engagement, no acknowledgment, and absolutely no effort to create a respectful or professional environment. It genuinely felt like the position had already been filled and they were simply going through the motions of interviewing for formality’s sake. I answered all the technical questions correctly, yet was rejected without any constructive feedback or reasoning.
What’s most upsetting is the lack of respect for candidates' time and energy. Preparing for interviews is not easy — it takes focus, mental effort, and often means prioritizing one opportunity over others. If the role was already filled, why put candidates through such an extensive and ultimately pointless process?
I walked away feeling like my time was wasted. It’s incredibly frustrating and disappointing, especially when candidates are genuinely invested and enthusiastic about the role. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Sonar to other job seekers.
