I applied and received a callback from Sony. The interview was scheduled for 1 hour on a Saturday. I joined 2 minutes early with my video on. The interviewer joined on time but kept his video off the entire time.
Right after a quick "Hi [my name]", he started asking questions without introducing himself or his role. From the start, he seemed in a hurry. He frequently cut me off mid-answer and moved to the next question, even when I hadn't finished explaining. He also appeared to be listening for very specific wording – if my answer didn't match exactly what he had in mind, he would stop me.
The whole Q&A lasted only about 20 minutes, after which he spent ~10 minutes summarizing what he thought he heard. The interview ended at 30 minutes (half the scheduled time). I had no chance to ask questions, clarify points, or even catch my breath. Having his camera off while I was on added to the impersonal, rushed feeling.
The technical questions themselves were reasonable and relevant to my experience. However, the interviewer’s behavior was unprofessional – no introduction, video off, constant interruptions, and no space for a normal conversation. This was not what I expected from a company of Sony’s reputation.
Advice to candidates:
Be prepared for a fast-paced, rigid interview style where the interviewer may keep their camera off and not let you complete your answers. Don't expect a warm or conversational tone.
