      Customer Journey Manager Interview

      12 Jan 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sovos in Jun 2020

      Interview

Interviewed for a type of Marketing position with very specific skills and the corporate recruiter asked me nothing about these skills, and just asked basic questions. He actually asked me "Name one time you thought outside the box at work?" One - Thats what Marketers do Two - C'mon, ask me a real question that I can answer. Also, you must take a personality and skills test TWICE, and then they will not provide you any feedback on the interview. Overall the corporate process ended up costing me the chance to ever talk about my skills and what I could bring to the table and I feel I never got the chance to show them who I was, and they just saw what their tests showed them (I guess? Dont know as no feedback).

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to leave us some feedback here. I’m sorry to hear that your experience wasn’t more positive. The assessment process and your initial conversation with one of our recruiters is not meant to screen someone’s skill level within their field of interest or expertise. As you pointed out, many of our roles have pretty specific skill sets and our recruiting teams are typically not equipped to dive into those. Our process on the front-end is meant to screen for fit within the organization – a way to show how candidates are likely to respond in fast-moving pressurized situations and how they will handle rapid change – both of which are key attributes of our high-growth business! And while asking about thinking outside of the box at work might not be the most exciting question in the world to be asked - it was asked in the spirit of organizational match. I am sorry that you felt like this step was a hindrance, but it is one of the most important parts of our hiring process. I hope that you have landed somewhere that you love since then, and thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
