I saw the opening for the position online on LinkedIn and immediately applied. I received an email 2 days later, pretty fast which is good, and the email said that they are interested in my profile, however they want me to give a min-max rate for the pay i expect to get at them. Nowhere in the ad did they mention a budget or anything, so immediately thats a red flag that tells me that they want for people to try and underbudget themselves by asking them for what they expect to get, without clearing what the budget is.
Regaredless, I gave an estimate and I was emailed that it was way too much for the position and that they wish me a good job hunting. No negotiation, no offer even for lower amount, just "thank you and goodbye".
I wrote back to the HR rep that I am very interested in the job and that I would like to hear a counteroffer at least and maybe have an interview and talk more about the position. Never heard back from them again.
Really bad experience, and it tells me that they care more about how much it will cost them, rather than the quality of the employee.
Last thing I want to add, the job stated "Remote Europe" when i applied, however a few days later it changed to "Remote South Africa".
Do with that what you will.
