I applied online. I interviewed at Splore (Singapore)
Interview
The process started with an HR screening interview that felt impersonal. The session was recorded without any clear explanation, and instead of a real two-way conversation about the company, a YouTube video was played.
After this I was invited to complete a coding assessment. I submitted my work on the second day, but almost immediately received a generic rejection email. the message didnt mention anything about the test and feedback, instead it used canned lines like "as one of the leaders within our industry, we receive many qualified applicant." the tone came across to me as self-important rather than respectful of candidate effort.
Waste time.
I interviewed with Splore, but the process was quite confusing.
The first round was a call with HR, during which the camera was not turned on. While that is not unacceptable, it did feel a little unprofessional.
For the second round, I was asked to prepare a case study and present it onsite. The interviewer shared some constructive feedback, which I genuinely appreciated and learned from.
However, after that, I never heard back. Even after sending a follow-up email to HR, I did not receive any response. This left me with the impression that the company either lacks respect for candidates or struggles with basic process management.

some follow-up questions related to my case study presentation
The overall interview process was structured, started with a pre-screening call with HR, followed by a more in-depth conversation with a potential teammate to assess both technical skills and behavioral alignment. I appreciated the chance to speak with someone from the team directly, as it gave me a better sense of the role and the team dynamic.
However, my first impression during the HR pre-screening wasn't the most positive. The HR exec joined the call over 20 minutes late without prior notice, I only received an email 30 minutes later asking me to rejoin. During the call, they informed me that they had been caught up in a meeting, but this wasn’t communicated ahead of time, which led me to wait in the call without any update. During the call, they are distracted, frequently checking their phone and not maintaining professional posture or eye contact. At times, my questions were either met with passive aggressive responses or ignored altogether. I understand that one individual may not reflect the company as a whole, but first interactions matter. I hope this feedback helps highlight the importance of mutual respect and professionalism in interviews.
