      Senior UI Developer Interview

      13 Feb 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Spokeo in Feb 2024

      Interview

Here's the hiring process: 1) 115 minute hackerrank test (2/3 wasn't working properly and took about half a minute to compile each time, and very poorly constructed, problems across the board). 2) HR screen with open ended technical questions and scant feedback, impersonal conversation. HR was also 10 minutes late to our 30 minute call, and wrote about zoom details in their email despite the call not being over zoom, which was confusing to say the least. 3) 1:1 30 minute manager interview on video call, again, open ended questions, no feedback. 4) Another timed coding test, probably harder than the first one. 5) Another video interview with more employees. Again, probably harder. 6) Not sure what else, but I'm sure there's more. I'd also like to add that the hiring manager was cold and impersonal, offered no guidance, no advice even when asked. And then rudely hung up on me at the end of the call, which ended early. Was very apparent that he's mostly just going through the motions and wasn't pleased that I wasted his time. So let me return the non-favor and give some advice: stringing along random comp sci questions on live video calls isn't indicative of skill, practical knowledge, or how suited a candidate is to the role. It's indicative of how much time the candidate has spent committing near-useless factoids to memory recently. Couple all of this with the other reviews on here about half the company being a call center and unethically scraping people's personal data, then ransoming it back to them over the phone (especially senior citizens) and I'm honestly not sure why anyone would want to work for this shady, shady company. Good luck.

      Question 6

Other regex questions on the timed hackerrank test, not very reasonable given the amount of time. Not sure why they expect every UI applicant to know fairly complex regexes off the top of their head. But they do.
